Why some one has to fart in almost all Hollywood comedies lately?

Any one else think that fart scene in elevator in the end was very unnecessary?
Does it really make americans laugh or something?

reply

Well I don't know about Americans, but it makes Canadians laugh.

-- fixed. next time speak for yourself. most british people over 13 that i know do not find toilet humor very funny. unless, i suppose, there is an obscene or obscure twist. such as, the offender craps themselves.

reply

Most British people over 25 that I know laugh at toilet humour, myself at 37 included.
surely crapping themselves just makes it even more crass? (I'd laugh I must admit. Grew up watching stuff like the young ones and bottom and can't get much more vulgar and toilet than that. Farts are always funny!)
your opinion is the wrong one!

reply

i thought it was funny as hell

reply

I think if the scene is in taste it makes it comedic......but other than that I find it ludicrous most of the time!!!

reply

Watch Idiocracy, it's the perfect explanation XD didn't see this movie though, so I can't comment the actual scene......

reply

I laughed at the fart scene in this movie. In fact, it was the only laugh to be had for me. A lame farting scene in a very lame movie. This movies a "stinker". Yes, pun intended.

Your thread title is hilarious.

Honestly, I don't laugh because someone's farting. I laugh at the other character's reactions.

"Almost all"?

Exaggerate much?

reply

this subject and the posts are funnier than the movie.

reply

I'm conflicted on this because even while watching the two fart scenes I was thinking come on, really we're going to fill time with fart jokes? Yet certainly in the first scene, Jackson's reaction did succeed in making me laugh... The second one was bad though.

reply

I honestly don't like fart jokes in movies but the way Samuel Jackson reacted to it in this movie made it worth it.

By the way, I wonder if it would be possible to convert a fart into a burp. Let's say you are in a situation where farting isn't possible, and you feel a pressure down there. Would it be possible to simply redirect the air bubble to travel upwards until you just burp it out? And would it taste bad?

Hm, for some reason, I am reminded of Calvin&Hobbes; "When birds burp, it must taste like bugs"

Let this post be my contribution to this world's fart humor, that the denizens here seem to admire so much.

I'm with you. These ubiquitous fart jokes are not funny, they're incredibly annoying. It's the same with TV comedies as well, unfortunately.
