The Dull Part of the Film (for me)

I bought this movie about five years ago. I enjoyed it a lot although a lot of people didn't.

Decided to watch it again recently. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed it. I also forgot the dull parts! For me, it was any scene with Yuri's wife Ava! What a snooze fest! Nothing against the actress, I know she was playing a trophy wife. Yuri had a crush on her for years. She was his fantasy girl.

But the script gives Ava NO personality whatsoever!! What is it with so many films? The pretty girl is simply there for her looks, a blank spot otherwise. Ava didn't have one interesting line in the film! When she finally took off the blinders and faced what Yuri did for a living, she showed backbone and left him. But otherwise, what a DULL woman!

Do people really stay married to other people just because of their looks?

Yes, the movie wasn't HER story. She was important as one of the parts of Yuri's life which he loses because of his job. But couldn't the script have given her at least one interesting thing to say? The warlord (lord of war) "Andy" was a much more interesting character.
