Question about the present Claude gave to Serge

Remember, they were sitting in the car after the seven minute dating thing, and Claude said "I have something for you" and gave Serge a box. What exactly was it? They did show what was inside the box, but I couldn't make it out.

Watched it last night, the gift looked like a box of assorted condoms.

Ah, I see, thank you :-)

On the other hand...I mentioned your question (and my answer) today to my girlfriend, with whom I watched the film last night. *She* didn't think it was assorted condoms. OK, we went back to the DVD and freeze-framed the scene. Visible in the box are (1) an odd-shaped red (well, reddish) thing; (2) a green, apparently elongated thing (lying parallel to the less-elongated reddish one); and (3) something Serge takes out of the box and holds in his hand.

This third item is thin, like a tag or a chip, and blue. On one side it has the number "00" -- or what we can *see* is the number "00"; part of the item is covered by Serge's hand -- and on the other side, when he turns it over and brings it closer to the camera, we see his name, "Serge," on it.

The "explanatory" sentence Claude offers Serge doesn't tell us anything (at least in the voice-over dubbed Russian, which in this case covers the French entirely): "This will help you get what you need."

Girlfriend's theory: the box contained (a) a bunch of assorted chocolates and (b) a name tag, both of which Serge will use at future speed-dating functions (where the patrons wear numbers and we know he likes to give little gifts). Girlfriend's *alternate* theory: item 2 looks like a greenish (pardon her French) dildo and...and let's not take that theory any further, shall we?

My theory: I *still* think assorted condoms makes the most sense. Although it's an uphill battle explaining items 1 and 2, item 3 *could* be a packaged, made-to-order gift condom with the user's name on it (to impress your dates, n'est-ce pas?).

The short version: We give up and would be happy to hear from someone who's definitively figured it out. The shooting script no doubt mentions what it is...
