2019? Way to close to 2005.

This movie did not age well. One look at LA in this movie and you need to wonder what the visual creator was smoking and what Michael Bay was thinking when he approved it. Did they actually think there would be flying Subway cars and about 100 new skyscrapers in just 14 years?

I hate shows like this that have too close of futuristic dates. Timecop was probably the most ambitious. 2001 also. As well as Bladerunner but the Island after timecop might just be the most ambitious of advancements in science.

Alternate reality.. Not our earth.

no flying subway cars. they were riding on the wires. multi-level transportation. would be great if we could make it work too.

Pretty much every movie that set its sci-fi date in near future failed to show what it really is. this is because noone can predict the future. this lead to a lot of movies just add 1000 years to current year and assume noone will remmeber the movie in a thousand years. During the aniversary of back to the future there was interesting rundown on what the movie got right and wrong. its weird how people saw the future. It goes even wierder if you go back 50 years or so, we would be running fusion reactors in every house according to them.

Applied Science? All science is applied. Eventually.

Well you're missing the point. A film like this should've been set in like 2050 or so. Then when it doesn't match up with reality, at least it's a reasonable miss.

reply

Nah, i would expect a far better technology by 2050.

We probably could have the tech shown in the movie, if the people with all their money in oil and current outdated tech didn't hold onto it and prevent progress. I'm serious when I say this.

reply

Yeah. We see mag lev type trains, then in a chase scene Ewan is throwing (lol..so heavy) steel Train axels off a semi trailer, all while being chased by a levitating Motorcycle. F*&king retarded.

reply

Wait... You're willing to suspend disbelief regarding cloning in 2005, but not the other stuff you mentioned? Lol. As someone else has said above, alternate reality.
