Only one page of discussion and all in 2016?

Did they erase all the old threads from this movie? Pathetic.

reply

Yeah, you're right. Don't they clear up old threads? This means all of Samantha's posts are gone, lol. She used to,spend her life defending Mortensen's movies against anyone who dared to criticize anything about them, lol! There were some epic battles in here, all gone now, 😉.

When the film came out there were a number of discussions -- some more serious than others 😃 -- about it, and if I recall there were over a thousand posts before IMDB deleted them, more than once. Most of the fights were between those who loved the "Old Cronenberg" and those who liked his more recent work better. Some were self-styled "Cronenberg scholars," who seemed to like to attack anyone with a different opinion of the film, which of course is one thing these boards are for, except that thy didn't seem able to keep discussions civil. Then there were the ones who failed to understand the film at all. Some of most vehement ones commented at great length but then admitted they either hadn't seen the film at all or hadn't watched it all the way through. And there were many good discussions, too, but those were deleted as well.

Wplains1 is one who just didn't get it, and kept trying to diss everybody who did. She said sarcastically that she must be "just stupid" so many times that some of us stopped being nice and finally agreed with her, at which point she began her endless personal attacks instead of trying to talk about a film she admitted she hadn't seen in its entirety.

As is apparent, she has not lost her taste for those personal attacks. And I suspect she still hasn't seen the film. 😃

Wrong, I did see it unfortunately. One of the stupidest films i ever saw, a total waste of my time. Still at it I see Sam -- is Mortensen still paying you a salary? While you were gone, he seems to have lost all his fans.

Same poor, pathetic old thing. 😃 Some folks grow, some just get older. And some resort to ridiculous emoticons, as the young kids do.

How ya doin', Valor3?

*beep* mods. IMDb really is turning to sh*t, isn't it?

Imdb boards are periodically cleared automatically when they fill up too much. It can be anywhere from every few days to every few months, depending on how active the board is. Though really inactive boards can still have threads that haven't been posted on in a decade or more.

It is really annoying though sometimes. I wish they would let the threads last longer. So many great threads have vanished.

I think this one cleared up 'cuz so many people were having one-on-one arguments. Kind of weird. Like the two guys carrying on about the baseball game. What a waste of time.

I had not seen this film for a few years, after having watched it several times and loving it, and of course posting about it here. I saw it again over this weekend, and on returning here am sorry to see so much of the discussions of it have been deleted by IMDb. What a shame.

But yes, I do recall this girl from White Plains did not understand the film.
