A Disaster from Start to Finish

Basically...

A Godzilla movie at the start,
The Matrix in the middle,
and Final Fantasy at the end.

There were a few times where I forgot I was watching a Godzilla film and some scenes were overly cheesy and a little too "out there", even for a Godzilla film (which is saying a lot). However, it was kind of refreshing to see human characters doing something other than wearing suits and sitting around in a conference room with scientists, talking about where the monster(s) came from and how to defeat them for 45 minutes. At least I can say I was never bored while watching this as the action never let up and moved at a swift pace. Plus seeing modern updates of all those classic monsters was a blast. I enjoyed this one quite a bit despite its numerous flaws.

Agreed. This is less a Godzilla movie, and more a sci-fi mash-up with special guests, Godzilla and the Kaiju All-Stars.

It didn't feel very Godzilla-esque throughout most of it, but it did give me that same exciting feeling that watching stuff like Super Sentai and Ultraman does, but with higher production values and awesome Toho kaiju.

it definitely had that guys-in-bug-suits afternoon tv action show feeling... the editing, weird videogame-like style, piss poor dialog, bad dubbing, etc. but, as a Godzilla film, it didn't ever feel quite right. I suppose their intent was to really shake it up for the new generation, but it just came across as cheap, pointless, and terribly uninspired.

I'm sticking with Destroy All Monsters instead!
