Cavett + Buell Characters a couple?

Were the Cavett and Buell characters a gay couple or simply two longtime friends (bachelors? widowers?) living together as roomates?

Just curious. Either way, i thought they were cute together. And in the end it mirrored Duane and his wacky roomate.

it's actually dick cavett and an actor named bill buell. jerry grayson is the casino boss. and, yes, my impression was they were certainly a gay couple. I loved those two.

I saw it the other day, but for some reason I remember them holding hands at one point.

I just watched the movie. One of Cavett's lines is "...two old hens like us".

I don't think a straight guy would refer to himself as a hen. I think hen is one step away from queen.

I think they were just a couple of confirmed bachelors, who bickered, cooked elaborate meals and slept in the same bed.
