I was actually impressed

I was actually impressed with this movie. I didn't know it existed until this weekend and I went out to get immediately. I had checked the reviews here at IMDB first and wasn't expecting much.

I must say, you loser-users at IMDB got it wrong again!!

reply

Not too bad.
Especially when I was preparing for the worst.
Kasugi and Yuen are definite reasons to check this out aside from the girls.

exactly. I could have worded it better in my first post and the acting from some was... struggling to say the least, but over all a good flick.

reply

I agree. This movie was not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. The fight scenes were well done and entertaining. Not a bad way to pass some time. I'd see it again.

Though my expectations were beyond low so that's probably why I liked it so much. Lol...when I have high expectations I usually hate the movie then when they are very low I end up liking it...unless it's Uwe Boll movie. :D

You must have low standards if this movie impresses you.

reply

and you must have high standards what were you expecting an oscarworthy movie or what, this movie was pure fun, well done and the fights were really impressive in my opinion and it was entertainment high five so stop bitching and accept the movie for what it is.

reply

I have accepted it as the piece of trash it is yes ^^

reply

Well if that's the case then you really don't seem like you could enjoy fun movies or either have fun at the cinema or wherever cause you come along like a complete ignorant person and according to your vote history it seems to be true.

I enjoy fun movies if they are good but DOA is not good. And whats wrong with my vote history? lol 6 and up = good movies ;]

reply

"Definitely a piece of trash. Good if you're a kid or gamer, I guess. Maybe a half assed video game but not as a movie. Certainly not THIS movie. Now you know why Devon Aoki gets so few lines in movies. She's a terrible actress. The wirework was so annoying. The most of the girls' fight scenes were ridiculous. Yuen overuses wires even when they're not needed. I watched the featurette and he had the girls train for four months before filming. Plus he used actors like Colin Chou, Shane Kosugi and Robin Shou with real martial arts experience so he could have at least made the action look alot better than this muck.

I hear people comparing it to Charlie's Angel and saying this is better but at least, CA didn't take itself seriously and that's why that movie was fun to watch. This is garbage except for watching sclantily clad girls, especially Jamie Pressley"

That movie didn't take itself seriously too and you can clearly see that in the movie and it's also fun to watch but it seems like you were watching the wrong movie cause I have the impression that you were expecting Shakespeare and not a movie based on a videogame.Think about it!

Sorry I didn't meant your vote history I meant your post history and only the movies you were talking good about.I mean come on you're calling DOA a piece of trash but you're talking good about "28 Days Later","28 Weeks Later",
"Dead Silence" and don't let me get started on "Employee of the Month" or your other movies and by the way calling Devon Aoki a bad actress and watching a Jessica Simpson Movie and liking it is really dumb don't you think so.

reply

I avoided this movie for so long then finally gave in and thought i'll give it a watch. I prepared for the worst and actually enjoyed the film.
It was fun.
I always find if i think a movie is gonna be really bad it can easily suprise me, how many times do we all go see something that we thinks gonna be great and it is such a let down.

reply

Haha... ditto. ^^

It's a no nonsense fun romp! It does what it says on the tin. All this film had to deliver was two things (these are the two things it only had to deliver in order to work) : 1) Cracking hot women 2) Excellent fight scenes!

It nailed them both! The game DOA didn't have much else going for it either did it?

Holly Valance as Christie Allen rocked the kasbah!

reply

Well... that its a retared chioce for a movie then, isn't it? Movie should have more things going with them than just that... if you can call "hot" chicks and over the top fighting scene something worthy or part of the recipy of a good movie... which you can't.

reply

I also loved the "cameos"

Liu Kang.. hahaha.
Kaplan (Resident Evil).. :)

reply

it depends on what you are expecting when you go into a film really. it's not wrong to have low expectations on something. I expected the world when i went to see "no country for old men", but i just finished watching this on TV and was pleasantly surprised. Maybe that was just because of the constant T and A shots but who knows?

For a game I had never heard of I enjoyed it.

I got it out for the guy that played Bayman more than anything else but I found it overall an enjoyable picture.

And a decent semi-comedic role for Kevin Nash for once.

WTH WAS THIS MOVIE ABOUT =S

A gamer should enjoy this? ow please...all the gamers I know hate this damned movie. When I saw the cast, I knew enough...HORRIBLE! an insult to Itagaki's brilliant game.

first of all the storyline was CRAP...WTF IS MAX?!
like I already said the chosen actors are HORRIBLE...Aoki as Kasumi?!
I didn't see one move of the game-characters...KO by hit in the balls???? WTMF!!

They should have made the movie MORE like the game...especially the characters
The good thing was Holly Valance(Christy, not bc she was like the Christy I know from the game...but Holly Valance is HOT) and Sarah Carter(Helena, the only character that kinda looked like the real deal)

reply

First off: It was a movie based on a game

Second: It was a movie based on a fighting game.

taking into account that game movies usually have terrible plot...not to mention to already terrible plot that fighting games already have...

I think we have a winner here. It certainly didn't win any Oscars...but I would watch it over some of those movies any day

this movie is horrible, should never have been made. Piece of crap wire fu junk
