ugh, that was a bad film and an even worse "philosophy." Basically it's "The Golden Rule" with some new-age mumbo jumbo and off-color auras.
You should try reading the book. It's just as painful.

Back in the late 60s we used to mumble crap like Redfield, if we smoked the right stuff. Or we could get an even heavier jolt from the Carlos Castaneda books, which were even sillier than Redfield.
This is just recycled hippie philosophy from 40 years ago, but to a lot of young naive souls it must sound new and profound.
Maybe, though Castaneda was a much better writer than Redfield.
Of course Redfield is a better writer than, say, Rod McKuen though that's not saying much, and I suspect that both appeal to the same type of person.

shareI think that the most telling flaw in the Celestine Prophecy is the parable/sub-da vinci code story that it is explained through. Ostensibly it is so the book doesnt 'get too preachy', but this is a book which is trying to -explain an all-encompassing spiritual belief that people are supposed to take seriously. Anyone looking for a religion from a book that doesnt get 'too preachy' is gonna end up in a lot of trouble.
And now - THE MOVIE! For people who want to discover a new spiritual belief system without having to go to all the bother of even reading a book!
