Leslie, you did too lie

Jess doesn't go around telling people he really sees sharks and everything else in his drawings and they know better anyway. You, however, completely lied about scuba diving because you knew you were supposed to write about a hobby you actually have.

That bit always annoys me with her bad rationalising. She does it again later, too.

Though you're dressed in rags, you wear an air of queenly grace

I thought those kind of assignments were about your writing skills, considering it's an English class. Teachers will often ask students to write about something they know they like to encourage them to do the work.

I'm sure if anyone asked Leslie (like Jess did), if she actually goes scuba diving she'd tell the truth.

No way! She had a big enough target on her back with her eccentric wardrobe and not owning a TV (although that point came up after the scuba essay). Admitting (to anyone except Jess) to a lie, after displacing Madison as the Teacher's Pet with that essay, would have been a point of no return regarding the rest of the class in their treatment of her.

I really don't think she'd care about the classroom politics. She told Jess the truth, she'd probably tell anyone else if they asked her directly. It was just a story to her.

She's dead, leave her alone.
