Leslie's parents

What happens to them, did they split up or just go in to different cars? We saw her dad drive off with PT, where was the mother?

reply

I have this on dvd you can see her mother for a quick minute at leslie's memorial her dad and grandmother are the main focus in the book both of them embrace and hug jesse at leslies memorial as if he were there own in this movie however leslie's father is the only one that embraces jesse i believe leslie's father was older in the book as well.

this was actually set up to be a sequel to chronicles of Narnia rather an another adaptation of bridge to terabithia. but the actors from the first film were never contacted to reprise their roles

a few other things that were never in the book - the dark master or the scene where jesse looses the keys to his fathers shop

Keep in mind that Leslie's dad was driving a rental moving truck, and don't forget that they had a Mercedes-Benz convertible that was usually parked on the dirt road between their house and the Aarons'. Presumably the mom was driving the Mercedes. (In the book it was an Italian roadster.)

if I remember correctly in the book jesse doesn't meet leslie's dad until her death. but in the movie he meets her parents rather early the moment after he learns of her death is more darker in the book than it is in the movie as well in the book the morning after he learns of leslies death jesse is still in denial and both of his older sisters keep nagging him for not showing any emotion this doesn't take place at all in the movie except for his older sister saying "We thought you were dead"

In the book, Jess gets to know both of Leslie's parents pretty well, as in the movie. Bill Burke hugging him at Leslie's wake and saying "She loved you, you know" was taken straight out of the book.

However, in the 1985 made for PBS movie version, Jess doesn't meet Leslie's mom until after her death, and she gives him the dialogue that Leslie's grandmother gives her in both the book and this movie. The 1985 version is the one that David Paterson refers to as being "like the crazy uncle that nobody in the family talks about".

a few other things

there is also a scene in the in the book where jesse learns that leslies parents are going to have her cremated this isn't mentioned in the movie we hear his parents asks leslies dad about the funeral and visitation and he says they had her sent back home.

and in the book it is jesse older sister Brenda that informs him of leslies death in the movie however it is his dad that gives him the news

the part where he gives leslie the puppy PT is actually a Christmas present in
