I just got done watching this movie and I agree. Paul really struck me here. I loved this movie for its simplicity. It really capture the true essense of what the "average gay teen" experiences during the tumultous teenage years of being gay and confused and alone. Paul was wonderful conveying everything most of us have gone through with such innocent. I didnt know what I was renting, and when I first turned it on, I thought "oh no another low budget flick". I was so wrong...well not...but the quality in the story, acting, characters, emotion, and even cinematographic technique more than make up for just more than a "home movie look." I give this 9 of 10, and with that, I say its more valuable than the many, if not all of todays larger scale "Hollywood gay teen movies", or the like, such as Beautiful Thing, Get Real, etc. This is what growing up gay really is...and this is what heartfelt, deep, insightful, and moving filmmaking is. On a last note, the tribute at the end to who the movie is somewhat "dedicated" was awesome. You dont get that in big budget film. This movie was a major sell for me to experience true art film.

I think Sam's actor did a way better job, but that may be because the plot focused more on his daily life. This film irritated me in the beggining, after the scene where Sam slept over, i loved it. Then it got progressivly more sad, and it led up to the great ending. I still loved it dispite the low-budgit and actors, the plot was very powerful, and personally heartbreaking.

It looks like most of his work has been in British films & T.V. He didn't seem British in the film. I'm guessing he lives in England though.
