Why the hate? Love this movie.

I've seen this a few times and I loved it. I don't know why it's rated under 7. It should be AT LEAST 7 something. I read some people giving it 3/10.. umm, wtf?

Could be remake hatred, but this is actually quite different from the original. I think this film is real good. Whenever I watch the original, I watch this one next. I can't say that for most remakes.

I didn't know much about this movie before I watched it, and I was surprised at how suspenseful it was. I thought it was really good.

It is well made, I think.
Fun while it lasted, fun even after watching it and pointing out its holes.
It does deserve a 7 and that's what I gave it.

It's a remake, so obviously there's going to be fans of the original who are going to be critical if not straight hating it because it "ruins" the original.

Just watched this movie today after seeing it in years after borrowing it, and I'm surprised how much I still enjoy it. The original I feel is overrated. The music was catchy and there was some intense action scenes, but that's really all I could say I liked about the original, and the remake did better action scenes than the original.

I heard Carpenter was inspired by Night of the Walking Dead when making Precinct 13, and it shows, but I feel that's also the problem. The story and characters were lacking and the overall film just wasn't memorable. Not to mention I had to suspend my disbelief more with the original than with this film. When my brother saw me watching the original, he was able to point out constant problems with just the scenes he was seeing.

This film ditches the horror element Carpenter was going for, and gave a more epic action film with fleshed out story and characters and it worked for me. I'm also surprised it only cost 30 million dollars. That's pretty much low budget these days for a studio release.
