Spoilers: 'I plead the fifth'

In episode 12, when Miina is trying to distance herself from Maiku, she several times shows him a note rather than say anything out loud. The subtitles on my DVD translate the note as, "I plead the Fifth." Given that the Fifth Amendment isn't something they have in Japan, I assume that this is an Americanization on the part of the translators. Does anyone read Japanese enough to know what the note actually says?

I noticed they did this in Onegai Teacher. I was also confused about the I plead the 5th. I do wonder if there is a Japanese version of not wanting to say anything because it would incriminate them.
