I'm too tired to complain about everything on this *beep* list, so I'll just address a couple of things1. Black Sabbath-Sucks
2. Led Zeppelin-Not metal
3. Metallica-Not top 20 material
4. AC/DC-Not top 20 material
5. Judas Priest-Fine
6. Motorhead-Not top 20 material
7. Iron Maiden-Fine
8. Aerosmith-Not metal wtf
9. KISS-Not metal
10. Guns N' Roses-Not metal
11. Motley Crue-Not metal
12. Def Leppard-Not metal
13. Megadeth-Fine
14. Van Halen-Not metal
15. Slayer- Fine
16. Alice Cooper-Not metal
17. Scorpions-Not metal
18. Deep Purple-Not metal
19. Anthrax-Fine
20. Pantera-Fine

why is your screen name metal_thrasher if you say Black Sabbath sucks? To me, anyone who is truly into metal would not say that Black Sabbath sucks unless they are something they are not.

plus its the top 100 HARD ROCK artist. not metal artist. so zepp belongs on the list.

I see where you're coming from and I agree with a lot of it, but they were going for Greatest as well as Popular. So, while Opeth and Emperor are amazing bands, they decided to go with Nirvana and AC/DC because of how ridiculously well known they are. Even though Opeth and Emperor are easily superior bands. And they chose the words "Hard Rock" on purpose so that they could incorporate let's say Slayer, but be allowed to include Led Zeppelin as well.

Is metal Thrasher a *beep* Idiot. If it wasnt for all those bands on that list. All the groups he listens to would not be around today. And Metal isn't about sound...Its about attitude. And most Metal fans consider these bands to be the fathers Of Metal.

Black Sabbath were pioneers of metal and hard rock in general they established doom metal as a genre and Iommi is a riff god. Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple helped create hard rock, and in their prime were easily some of the heaviest bands around. This list is *beep* anyways, the vh1, your list is pretty awesome.

Black Sabbath paved the way for metal. Therefore everything you said is automatically wrong by your idiotic comment. AC/DC is top 20 Material. In fact I wouldn't have been surprised if they had listed them as number 1. Zeppelin, Sabbath, and Hendrix deserve those spots though. Aside from Metallica the top 20 was perfect.

The most important thing to consider is that this is NOT a metal list.

Even though that silly host (what was her name... Camren Diez?) often reffered to it as a heavy metal list, that's NEVER what it was. It is "the greatest artists of HARD ROCK." It does not claim to be about heavy metal. In the very start of the show you'll notice the host mentions such genres as punk and grunge along with metal.

carmen electra, eye candy. did she say any words? i wasn't paying attention.
anyway, back to the main order of business. hard rock/metal, fair enough. But what excuse do you have for Green Day, The Ramones, and Husker du. thats punk, punk sucks as a genre, let alone the bands. i personally acknowledge Sabbath as metal gods, but i could never get into their music as much as i could Maiden, Priest, or Accept. it was all a bit slow for me, then the NWOBHM hit and i was fine. but this list is *beep* everybody make their own top 20, stop listening to the dick heads at VH1.

EXTERMINATE, EXTERMINATE, EXTERMINATE!

How can you say Metallica shoudln't be in the top 20, they are one of if not the greatest bands ever and my personal favorite, and whether you like the band or not you cannot deny the success and skill that they have....

I agree with Iced Earth and Overkill. BUT WHAT ABOUT MERCYFUL FATE? Atleast some of those bands got ON the list.

well what do you want me to refer to green day as, seen as there isn't actually a genre reserved for pure crap (besides rap) or music reserved for prepubescent girls, i don't know what to do. and i apologise for saying punk sucks, that was before i heard any real punk, all i had to go on was the sh!t my little sister plays. and as far as the ramones go "i wanna be sedated" just pisses me off.

Now listen up, you primitive screwheads. See this? This... is my BOOMSTICK!!!
