hell yeah!

Metallica rules too.

I dunno. It's southern rock a la Skynyrd, but their heaviness is closer to Jefferson Airplane, The Eagles and Yes. Then again, they put The Yardbirds and The Rolling Stones on the list, so...

I am a humongous metalhead and fan of hard rock, and The Alllman Brothers is easily my favorite non-metal, non-Hard Rock band but they really weren't hard rock. The Allman Brothers were really just a blues band.
The only reason the Yardbirds were on was because Jimmy Page was in it (though some of their stuff is kind of Hard Rock) and without the Rolling Stones, we really wouldn't have gotten out of the Beatles level of Heaviness and how dark would lyrics get if we didn't have Paint It Black and Sympathy for the Devil
