DVD Quality

I don't know much about the making of this movie, but it sounds as though it was independently produced and released which makes me worry about the quality. Can anyone tell me how well made the DVD is? I'm not concerned about the content of the DVD (which I'm sure is priceless), I'm talking about the production itself. The sound, the lighting, the packaging, etc. I'm a big fan of Chuck Palahniuk and The Cult, so I'm going to buy the DVD regardless, but I'd still be interested in the opinion of someone else who bought it. Thanks!

First off, this is a documentary and not a Hollywood motion picture. That said, I do not believe that any of this was shot on 35mm (actual film stock). Rather, it was shot using miniDV and the likes. The actual aesthetic quality of the DVD is just fine and works perfectly for the medium being expressed. There is an issue with sound at times, but never to the extent that you can not hear what is being said. In summation, if you are a follower of Chuck, or just dig his writing, this is a must own.

I believe you can buy it now for $15 @ chuckpalahniuk.net + you may get some extra goodies sent to you along with it (i.e. I received a copy of Kiss me Judas).

The video quality is quite poor and is sometimes magnified with muddy results. The audio is mediocre as well and the overall production values are pretty shoddy. It is a shame that there aren't any other documentaries on Palahniuk. While the interviews and footage of him are all very interesting, there is a ton of wasted footage conversing with obnoxious fans, focusing on shoes, school campuses, whatnot. It is very apparent that these are first time documentarians who are coming at this film project from the perspective of a fan rather than a filmmaker. My advice is to borrow/rent but never buy.

Definitely buy if you can. I was fortunate enough to get it from the last stock of DVDs signed by Chuck himself. 90% of the video is crystal clear, definitely shot on quality miniDV cams. There are a few shots that made me go, "why are they using that shot, its pixelated?" but its not incredibly distracting. The audio is fine, however, there are some background interruptions, such as people walking by during interviews, etc, but nothing like echos or anything. This item was discontinued recently, but you'll probably see it popping up on eBay every so often.
