Like mentioned before, it's a short film made, which they eventually decided to make into a feature film. Some other things that went the same route are "The Dirk Diggler Story" (later made into "Boogie Nights"), and "Within the Woods" (later made into "The Evil Dead", although specifically made to get financing for the feature film).
sharesame with bottle rocket, and resevoir dogs if i remember correctly
shareI think they did it with saw as well (they only filmed the reverse beartrap scene)
There can be only none, Debbie!
No, that was a short film to get companies interested in the film. They had every intent of making Saw when they made that video.
Darth Vader rules. Everyone else is a dick.
Yeah, but it was the same case with reservoir dogs, mentioned above. They had intended to make the film all along, but filmed rough cuts of some scenes with Quentin Tarantino as Mr. White, Steve Buscemi as Mr. Pink, and someone (lawrence bender?) as Mr. Orange
There can be only none, Debbie!
the scenes with tarantino and buscemi were filmed at the sundance institute
it is a course that filmmakers can go on to help them get a first film made and look at different aspects of the filmmaking process
