So the entire crowd was cheering for rapists/murderers/criminals?

Sure, ok.

Lol

The part where he asks the lifer if it was worth it to pop the warden was cringe worthy to me.

The part with Chris Berman's partner chanting "Mean machine...mean machine..." was equally cringeworthy for me.

reply

Haha same here. So cheesy and unrealistic.

reply

Pathetic. The only ones who support criminals are those who can't win by playing within societies' norms. Therefore, the most pathetic of the bunch. *beep* 'em.

A bright light can hollow the deepest of nothingness.

As they did in the original, as folks do in Shawshank, as folks do in Unforgiven...

It's natural for viewers to root for those whose side of the story we are privy to, particularly when they are made to be a bit sympathetic.

It was just a football game. None of those fans would have rooted for any of the cons to get released back into society, but on the football field that day, in that moment that they switched sides to root for the cons. It was because the cons impressed them by continuing to play hard despite everything that was against them.

The cons showed that they had heart while the majority of the guards showed that they were just there to take cheap shots and make a mockery of the sport. So that was that. Each and every one of those people were just as happy to see all of those cons returning to that bus to be sent back to their cells after the game.

They didn't support them at first. They were like they're the cons and bad guys. The team won them over with playing.
