The reasons why this movie is pure filth are too many to list but let's try for the hell of it:
1. Why is a group of Candian, Brit, Scotsman soldiers flying together? 2. Total lack of any storyline to this movie, like who is the fat dude and why does he have so much info? 3. Terrible accents, they sound totally forced. 4. Rock music in a WWII movie, electric guitars weren't even invented yet right? 5. The whimp with the glasses should have been shot by his own men, how the hell is he a paratrooper?
1. They thought that was the easiest way to give characters more "character". Of course that didn't work.
2. Too many cooks or one incredibly stupid one.
3. Comedy value.
4. Electric guitars with certain effects generate very doomsday-like sounds that can be fitted in a WW2-movie. However the music used in this movie was nothing like that.
5. Same as answer 1.
I think the reason for "The Last Drop" being utter crap, is that nobody knew what kind of film it was supposed to be. Not the people responsible for the story, director, composer or actors. They didn't know if it was a comedy, drama or some sort of adventure movie. That would explain the music, bad acting and general lack of plot/storyline/characters.
I hate this film not only because it is bad in every way, but also for taking WW2 way too lightly and basically making fun of people who fought there. WW2 was not fun, especially not for paratroopers surrounded by enemies, without any support. This movie is an insult for the veterans.
"Whatever the problem is, Clint Eastwood is gonna fix it."
Maybe Mr. Madsen was meant to make this film so he could save the starving dog he found on the Romanian set and take it home with him for a better life in California! (Read his bio)
