Dont let the rating fool you!

Bad acting, bad editing, bad dialog - not many things speaks for this movie. The special effects looks like something from the seventies. Its funny to see how this movie completely stopped in its tracks when it was done. A lot of things sounds good about it - actors, plot and so on, but yet it stopped dead. No distribution. If anyone is wondering why, here is the answer: Low quality. The distributors watched it and decided it was too bad.

my rating 6.1/10

the rating may be exagerated by the excited investors, but uk movies on tight budgets dont get any better than this. we should be supporting this fresh film company in bringing us to the international platform without hollywood $$
its just a shame its going to bypass the big screen. hopefully you will be proved wrong, as this country needs to kickstart its film industry.

reply

I disagree.

Movies on a tight budget should rely more on a script than anything else. This is why we love independent films they have great stories not like the big Hollywood blockbusters.

This movie could easily have been good if the writing wasn't so bad, I swear they wrote the dialogue on the plane and then changed the script halfway through the film after a german investor wanted some friendlier nazis.

OMG, serioulsy, Could it BE more NOT entertaining.. 2/10

yes i can see, maybe your right. its probably because billy zane was a late introduction to the cast.
i still think they were trying to give an eagles dare feel to it. i think it has been set up for all age groups. as i have money invested i hope you r wrong. the problem is for feedback all replies have been by shareholders, so can you rely on this NO! i took a handful of guests who all said it was better than they imagened. well exept one, my friend lucy who fell asleep. she soon woke when the free booze was handied out at the after show party. maybe this is where my money was invested.
i think carnaby was a bit disapointing with spivs and lighthouse hill. i was an extra in the film love fm(r u ready for love) which is in post production. no hollywood stars in that one.
i will have to keep my fingers crossed.
think happy.be true.

I'm sorry Chris, but for your sake i sincerely hope that you a) didn't invest too much in this film and b) can afford to lose whatever you invested.

Seriously, this film is pretty terrible. In fact, the ONLY redeeming feature for me is that fact that it's set in WW2, which is always a plus point in my opinion, as i'm a bit of a fan of the genre.

I think i knew this film was going downhill when the 80's rock music kicked in during the scene when the 2 germans were about to crash their truck. I don't expect to hear rock music in a ww2 movie!

Also, just too many embarressingly un-funny one-liners, bad acting (the captain who got shot after they landed had to have the worst accent and acting ever), mediocre at best effects, and terrible terrible script.

4/10 i'm afraid.

reply

Well said. This movie isnt even comparible to Where Eagles Dare and these "investors" are so biased they don't even care how bad it is.

This movie STUNK!!!!

How can they possibly screw it up so much that it has a script worse than Pearl Harbor. Small budgets are supposed to mean they put the work into the script.

please try anger management.com they might be a better outlet!

l13elt, maybe you should try controlling yourself instead of others. Comments like your's belong on an elementary school blog. This guy was just voicing an opinion, one I happen to agree with. In a page, and a forum stuffed full of investor shills, it's nice to have a little clarity in the midst of spin central.

What does Time Bandits have to do with you telling people to try "anger managemnent" because they don't agree with you?

Like I said, elementary school.

Try staying on topic, bub. (lol)

The last time I watch more than 10 min bad movie

reply

this film is a shame to the whole wwII-line. Seriously what where the makers thinking?

reply

Very bad movie. I love anything WWII related -if it's decent- but this just stunk. If you haven't seen it don't waste the hour and 45 minutes on it. Watch Kelly's Heroes for the hundreth time it will still be better than The Last Drop.

reply

maybe this is another The Great Raid crap..hihihi..

reply

Yeah, this was really poor beginning to end. I don't know if it's even possibly for the writers to have included any more tired war cliches. Unoriginal almost to a level of perfection. Michael Madsen and Billy Zane are clearly scraping the bottom of the barrell these days for work, sad but true.
It was really pathetic watching the making-of featurette and seeing all these clueless, deluded actors talking about how they felt they had contributed to the great war movies of all time. With not a single line of compelling dialogue, no scene of real war-time tension, not one character that isn't a hollow, watered-down archetype plus throw in the corny musical choices like Yankee Doodle Dandy and some schlocky hard rock theme, you get a nice pile of steaming coils, and a lot of wasted money.

I'm glad I read these forums.I'll avoid this one..thanks guys and gals.

So-so?

I just saw this movie (on DVD in Germany).

I'm a big fan of WWII films but I'm sad to say I fell asleep after about 20 minutes.

The story is disjointed and very difficult to follow. Why is this unit full of soldiers wearing different uniforms? Where are they going and why? What is that accent of the paratrooper officer at the beginning - Polish? Welsh?

Even the appearance of ex-Tottenham Hotspurs pretty boy David Ginola couldn't save it.

Shame...

Yeah it's wasn't as bad as people are saying, sure it's no Dirty Dozen or even Kelly's heroes but it was mildly entertaining in a straight to DVD kinda way.

Agree that Madsen phoned it in, he was truly poor and couldn't even be bothered to ham it up properly, this guy really owes his first born to Tarantino. Thought Zane was ok doing a sub Memphis Belle alike performance and Nick Moran was good with some amusing lines. The rest did an ok job too in very stereotypical roles that didn't give them much scope and let's be honest this movie was never going to challenge for an Oscar in any department anyway.

Oh I didn't like the ending much though, all too rushed and unconvincing. I think with a little tighter editing and a touch more exposure it could tied up nicely, however in truth I suppose that statement stands true for the whole movie really.

Again nowhere near as bad as people are making out but certainly no great shakes either.

Worth a watch when it's on Ch5 one night at 9pm and there is nothing else on.

Hmmm. I was initially attracted to it because of its WWII genre. I was hoping it would be a modern day kellys heroes only better.

Not quite. Definitely watchable on a boring night but nothing special. billy zane has to be the worst actor ever.

i still dont get why they blew up the rest of th epaintings and stuff

reply

The best thing about this movie was the DVD artwork on the case!

I was hoping for a decent WWII genre movie with a good twist but to be honest this movie sucked. I fell asleep (should never watch a movie laying on the couch) but if it were entertainng enough, I would have stayed awake.

The effects were cheap (the gliders looked like models as well as the German plane strafing the field) They even had to resort to stock black & white footage as a filler between chapters. Once I realized how low budget it was and with the poor acting and effects, I just could not get into it. I'd watch Spongbob the Movie again over this one.

Avoid this movie! p.s. There was a funny scene of a Dutch?? girl peeing into the soup pot for the Germans dinner.
