Why did the detective immediately suspect Charles of killing Winston {I think that was his name]? What motive would Charles have had, and how did the detective know Charles had been with Winston that night? Why would anyone in the office be suspect when Winston was known to have a shady background so it could be any of his aquaintances outside of the office?

On the other hand, why did Charles try to dispose of Winston's body knowing he had just been seen with the body by two witnesses? In answer to my own question above, the two witnesses might have reported seeing Charles that night, but I assume they would have preferred to keep quiet since they were up to shady activities of their own.

They didn't get a good look at winston. but they may have gotten a good look at the car. I'm not sure if that prostitute may have been an undercover cop but the actual cop seemed to be more worried about trying to bust people picking up prostitutes rather than paying attention to details. He may have not remembered the car by the time it was found in the river.
