Vincent Cassel was such a good bad guy

It was like he was born to play this role because he did it so well! The first time I saw it he literally made me hate him so much. That was the first time I was introduced to Cassel too. I had a similar reaction to Bardem's performance in No Country for Old Men, although I didn't HATE him like I did LaRoche but I thought he was one hell of a good bad guy. I think it was because I'd never heard of both of them before so I didn't know what they're normally like. No matter how good an actor Tom Hanks is, I doubt I would ever have the same feelings for his portrayal of a bad guy as I did for Bardem and Cassel. They were both just relentless and were 100% focused on doing bad things.

Yeah, he was the only reason this film is worth watching.

Check out 'Birthday Girl' where he is in the movie with Nicole Kidman and Ben Chapman.

It's an excellent movie.

Vincent Cassell was also in Ocean's Twelve (and thirteen) but minir roles in those.

Uh, no. He was awful. Far too scrawny and weak looking to come across as any serious threat. It was just ridiculous how much Clive Owen's character let himself be pushed around by him, and lost a fight to him even.

Quite simply one of the most laughable and least intimidating bad guys I've ever come across in a film. When I first saw him enter the hotel room I thought "Surely this can't be the main villain?" but unfortunately he was.

How anyone could actually think this was a good performance and HATE this character is beyond me. Just awful.

reply

I agree. He makes Matthew Lilliard look like a comic book character.
