A disney flop

Which isn't to say it didn't make money: the third Pirates film made money.

I suspect having watched the film that the main problem is with the casting. Miley Cyrus can't convey anything other than a smug self-satisfaction in herself and is devoid of any tangible ability, and Travolta sleep-walks though the film. I'm sure he had a mighty paycheck.

Also, the animation didn't seem well finished, particularly when compared to something like Toy Story.

But I suppose a significant reason is that the story doesn't draw you in, it just seem to linger, giving to actors a greater opportunity to wind you up.

Poor. But ideal for shallow, celebrity obsessed teenagers.

You didn't even watch the movie did you.

[SOB] It's TRUE! Oh how could you tell!? I'm so deeply ashamed. As I felt my gorge rising at the sycophantic cynical lowest common denominator tripe spewing from the tv, I turned off after an hour.

I have checked the receipts for this film - it WAS a flop.

Nope, over $300 million worldwide. Not a financial flop.

How can it be flop if it made back twice it's budget? A movie that flops is a isn't a financial success. Bolt is also a critical success (%88 on Rotten Tomatoes). You ay have not have liked it and I respect that but to call it a flop is simply not true.

The animation was fantastic.
The film was well received, but it earned its budget back and that's about it.

$300 mil worldwide against $150 mil production budget, assume marketing costs and bluray sales cancel each other out and they made $150 million. Not a flop but I'm surprised it didn't do better.

It is a shame that Bolt didn't do better as it is a fun and entertaining movie with a pretty good repeat viewing factor.
