Francine is rehearsing her role for some kind of movie. The thing you see is a flashback of Thomas. You can watch it again on youtube if you like.

Francine is just rehearsing, Thomas thinks that she is ending their relationship and think on every details that took from the magic beggining to this sad end. At the end Francine call again and let us to know that she was just practicing her dialogue for a movie. I think this short is brilliant.

It's not supposed to be taken literally. He was more or less saying (in my opinion) that he finally sees how shallow/selfish she was being in their relationship. The screaming for no reason..? It looked to me she was taking advantage of him and also getting frustrated by his blindness..which he saw during that split second between that 1st call and 2nd call. He didn't know that she was just acting, which caused him to "see" that truth.

OR! it could be looked at on a positive note and he's saying that he "sees" that she is a girl worth the drama and imperfections.. since she truly did love him.

It's up to you to decide!

he's saying it with a "joy" in his face. so it should be taken for what it is, he just saw her in his mind (as we did for real).

That's pretty much the way I understood the ending :) But I really appreciated the ambivalence of the line because it lets the audience make up their own minds about the meaning of his words (and the of the whole film). Definitely my favourite short film ever

she wasn't being selfish in the relationship....he wasn't paying attention to her... he was ignoring her, the flashbacks makes him realize how he was taking her for granted...so when he says " I see you" he is finally seeing the relationship through her eyes, and realizing he was neglecting her.

agreed!

Blindness has no effect in a phone call, someone that could see or someone that was blind would take that first phone call the same way. The flashbacks show he was focusing on his exams more than her. I think he realised that he was neglecting the relationship and his emotional reaction to the first phone call made him realise how he felt. So he's happy when she calls back and he discovers that everything is alright.
