Good documentary, but...

I recently bought this movie after getting into stop-motion animation and discovering the works of Bruce. There's no doubt this man is a genius in his craft, and I love watching his work.

I bought the documentary thinking there would be more in depth detail into his animating process, but there was very little footage of him at work, so I felt a little disappointed about that.

Also, I'm curious why there was not more coverage of his work with Frank Zappa - strange.

I think that is because this is a psychological documentary, not a how-to instructional video for clay animation. However you do see Bickford sculpting figures with clay, you see his studio, you see him photographing and animating his figures, and he does talk about his animation process...

The Zappa point is a fair criticism though I'd say. I think it comes up briefly when Bickford is on the phone with someone, but you're right, it is largely overlooked.
