At the Baron's party where he mistreated sayouri, mameha didn't go because she had a different obligation. Hatsoumomo said that "she had to get rid of something or was that a secret?" what was it that she had to f=get rid off? maybe she ment abortion? does anybody know from the books?

In the book they say that she's gettting it at the barons request because he already has children with his wife and doesn't want any more.
She was, and it was not unheard of with geisha. Mameha actually terminated three pregnancies at the Baron's 'request'. Had she not done it he would have ended their relationship and she would have been on her own. He was good and mostly kind to Mameha so she would never say anything against him, but the Baron was not a good man at all.
