True Story?

Is this a true story by any chance? I thought it was possible that it could be.

It seems that it is a relatively interesting movie, but I agree with the comments that the movie doesn't leave much to the imagination.

Well, it´s a fiction, but it´s inspired by a true story of a Pygmee woman brought to Europe to display as "The Hotentote Venus." It was embarassing, but she quite liked it. She died soon, and her remains were displayed in a museum, recently they returned to Africa. This movie is much too melodramatic to be true

I'm not sure if this is entirely a true story but I know that one can do much research on Ota Benga. He was on display at the Bronx museum in 1906 as a missing link.

From www.answersingenesis.org:

"The story of Ota Benga is one of the many tragic fruits of evolutionism. But it is one which contains a lesson in helping us to realize the importance of the Christian teaching that all men are brothers, all descendants of Adam and Eve. If all Christians had stood up for creation at the outset of the Ota Benga incident, this horror story of evolutionary racism might have been averted."

Interesting... If you want a source that isn't a thinly veiled justification for the belief in invisible sky wizards you can check: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ota_Benga.

I see you've made your mind up about God.

How very scientific of you.

Or how very closed minded and predictable.

reply

kind of sounds like you too have made your mind up about God. Most people are pretty close-minded about religion, on both sides.

Kind of sounds like you too have made up your mind about the previous poster, like the previous poster about the poster before him. Hehe.

I'm lucky because I have no brainssssss.

I liked that, christians are blaming evolution for racism. They forget the preachings of many of their brothers that justify racism with the argument that blacks have the "mark of Cain" or they are descendants of Ham and therefore are cursed by god.

I believe it's based more on Ota Benga than The Hottentot Venus. I don't think Sara Baartman was a pygmy, however the rest of what was said about her is true. This movie is more about the kind of exploitation Ota Benga went through than Sara's story.
