False advertising...
“An exhausted Manhattan drug dealer stumbles across the existence of a mythical drug known as "Grace," which according to urban legend, can increase a user's cerebral activity to dangerous new levels.”
Hmm. I thought it was an interesting idea, but the film never shows anything about this mythical drug. We see one guy—one guy!—take the drug. No in fact you never see him take it, you just see the after affects which are lame. In the most annoying scene in the film, amongst many annoying ones, the taker of Grace just sits there catatonic mumbling about God, while the hero stands framed in silhouette in the doorway for a seriously uncomfortably loooong time. Its one shot.
Hey buddy, this is film, you gotta SHOW stuff. Show us HOW the drug effects people. I was waiting for the camera to pan, reveal an amazing sculpture or something said drug taker created by way of the drug. Something to visually show what the drug does to people. But...nothing. Why I didnt turn it off there I dont know.
Also the heros emotional problem with an ex-girlfriend has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the plot. Theyre like two different movies. And this film is soooo slow. The writer needs to learn to get in and out of scenes much faster, and to have the heros problem or flaw relate to the plot.
As for the twist at the end. True I didnt see it coming, so I guess thats good.
