Anyone know if there's a list anywhere of the inconsistencies throughout the series that make this less likely/impossible? Seems like there'd have to be one, it felt so shoehorned.

It's cool they wanted to make GG someone from the inner circle, but I still think it would've been better to have no reveal at all, or have it be a much lighter (and only to the audience) reveal of Kristen Bell or something.

But, in defense of it being Dan. He could've had posts released via timer so he could be in public to throw off suspicion. Also explains him having reactions when alone. He wanted to appear non-suspicious for anyone watching, he was a good actor. Also I felt sure it was him once his book was revealed, that just seems a very GG thing to do. And having always been an outsider... It just felt right. Just poorly executed since it hadn't been planned long enough.

just watched the pilot on netflix and there's no way in hell he's the 'gossip girl' lol probs some ending twist that some producer came up with as the show was fading

It did feel though like they were really building him up in the last two seasons though, the whole book thing was obvious

i suppose you are right there. lol. i just think i was thinking of how shocked i was when i found out it was him. i watched it only a couple years ago, so i just stayed off the message board until i was done. :) When a show is old like that, i do think its a person's own fault if they don't just stay away until they are done.

Agreed. I would totally give fair warning if it were for a recent episode, but yeah, generally just stay off a board until finished. I'm glad someone was shocked by it being him though, so you could enjoy payoff.

You were not surprised it was him? i think i would have thought it would be Blair. i like your idea of it being Kirsten Bell in some way.

Not everyone watched the show when it was on. I just today finished the series. But I knew who Gossip Girl was the whole time because of a Buzzfeed article. So the whole time I was watching I was looking for clues the writers may have dropped. But honestly, I don't think they had any clear game plan from the beginning. And that's clear because of how they shoehorned in some exposition in the final 2 minutes.

Though, in fairness, I'd say most of these are reasons it makes it more surprising for the reveal, not necessarily impossible
