How did Blair go from pining for Chuck the first half of season 5 to Dan

I'm re-watching season 5, and I still don't get how Chuck and Blair are finally together, then comes the car accident and then to Blair dating Dan. This isn't a slam against the relationship, Dair. I promise. It's just, how did she go from being crazy for Chuck to dating Dan?

I think it is the way writers create relationships in GG, since everyone was with everyone, nobody spends any time alone. All of a sudden you wake up and no longer care. Then you are madly in love overnight, like Serena plus everyone.

Good analysis!

I think the feelings were there, she just loved Chuck more. After the accident and the disaster of a wedding, she was just done with all that. Dan was a safety net. He was a safe haven away from everything. She did love Dan in some way, just not enough to stay once he was no longer needed. I just hate that the writers felt they had to end them like they did. I wish they had separated them in a way that didn't end their friendship.

I thought the way Dair broke up was stupid too, and I didn't like that pairing.

I wanna know what the plans were with the emails she sent him. One of the subjects was, I believe, "It's not what it looks like.". Was it a dropped plot or did they not expect people to read them?

IDK if that's love or loving what someone can do for you...? I feel like if she loved him, at some point, she would try to be there for him the same way he was there for her. But, their relationship involved a lot of Blair taking and Dan giving.

In any case, I agree with your take on thing and Blair need a safe-haven. They should've stayed friends and not let romance ruin things for them.

Don't get me started on that stupid 'pact with God' Blair had not to date Chuck, I never understood that. She didn't WANT to marry Louis, I'm pretty sure God would have understood that. Blair ended up in a loveless marriage and Chuck was millions out of pocket paying off her dowry, after all of which she decided to date Dan. The whole thing was stupid.

I think the whole Louis situation was mad stupid. And Blair already had too many reasons to be alone for a while, she lost a baby. It is not like you go through that and then rush into the arms of anyone. And she went to Columbia for like, two months?

I still can't believe she was willing to destroy her mother financially all because of a stupid pact. Eleanor should've disowned her and I always felt like chuck once again rescuing her from her own mistake was an issue.

I think the storyline was lousy, the wedding, Dair, ugh. It was clear that Chuck and Blair was a big part of the show. It felt like the writers dragged on with the reunion of Chuck and Blair a little longer to do more seasons. They had simply run out of storylines.

But I choose to look at it as that Blair was confused and scared. She was never in love with Dan, she just tried to escape from her feelings for Chuck. What she had done many times over.

Because season 5 was a mess. Season 6 wasn't much better. In fact as much as I hate season 5, I still rank it above season 6.

Read The Book Thief. It will make you cry for days.
