I hope they make a series out of this. If they choose not to then that movie had the worst ending I have ever seen, and trust me I have seen some pretty bad endings to movies.

reply

What exactly were the last lines? I was so astounded that it just stopped that I didn't even hear what was said at the very end!

reply

It wasn't so bad, I thought it was pretty freaky. I would LOVE a series. USA is by far the leader in original movies and shows right now... loved it.

reply

I completly agree that movie would turn into a great series I would love to see it . I dont watch a hole lot of TV shows but I would watch that every time it was on

reply

Yeah, I would like to see it happen... I just felt like it had a great production staff... Miles ahead of ost of the crap on TV right now.

reply

It was pretty to look at, good acting. The plot sucked.

reply

I actually thought Parker Posey was awful.

The dialogue was pretty bad at times though.

Only thing that really saved it was director Marcus Nispel and the cinematography.

Actually... It wasn't just the ending, it was the whole movie. There were so many unanswered questions like what was keeping the "mad scientist" alive and why was the boy so important to Deucalion. I hated the whole thing and it was a waste of time and money.

reply

The Movie was made as a pilot for a series so they wanted to leave alot of unanswered questions otherwise it wouldn't be a very good series now would it. I worked on the movie as a PA and the writes and producers really want to do this series. I hope that USA picks it up.

Beautiful images? Did we watch the same movie? I mean the style was very cool and yet very strange, but I would never call it beautiful. I would call them creepy images.
*As for the show. I understand why the writters did it but if it doesnt get picked up by USA then it leaves people with a lot of unanswered questions.

The movie is bases on part one of a trilogy, which is why it may have seemed to end abruptly to those not familiar with the book.

reply

Dean Koontz who wrote the book, is planning a trilogy of the series. The tv version may of been rushed into since the next book wont be out till october and perhaps a two parter may of been better since the creators of the film probably have no idea where the book is going to lead.In the book the ending works a lot better.

reply

Just finished the second book. The third is supposed to come out pretty soon. I am not a big Koontz fan, I've read a ton of his books (and there are, literally, a ton of them) but I'd say only 3 or 4 I really enjoyed. This series is one of them. I haven't seen the tv movie though so I might check it out. Maybe they'll finish it up on tv when the next book comes out but I sort of doubt it. They definately won't be filming in New Orleans any time soon.

That movie was not bad, it reminded me of some sort of the TV series. The plot was a little bit cheesy, but the movie was saved by Marcus Nispel directional skills. I really liked the whole atmosphere in which movie evolves. Movie called "Seven" had the same distinctive and dark looks as well, and I'm a big fan of that movie. maybe that's why I liked the Frankenstein 2004 because it reminded me of Seven....who knows..

reply

It is not ended, there are 2 more books that follow this one, and they just might be made into movies. I have read the second one, and it answers alot of questions that were left unanswered in the first.

I think a lot of this confusion is going around, and there is one simple explanation. Nowhere in the credits of this film did they mention the Dean Koontz books, only on this site did I even hear the movie attached to Mr. Koontz. Had my girlfriend not been reading the books, I would have been just as confused as everyone else... well, I probably even wouldn't have watched what looked to be a B movie.

I just Bought on DVD today, loved it I was so ashamed that it ended like that, I really hope they make a TV show about it, I'd watch, or at least make a TV sequel to it.

For everybody you loved the movie read the book. And the reason Koontz is not credit in the movie is because he and the producer of the movie had creative differences which means hollywood was messing up another great koontz book. Koontz wanted nothing to do with the tv movie. Pick up the book and he tells you all about it.

It was due to creative differences, Koontz didn't like how his book was being adapted in the film and he withdrew. I wish he hooked with Del Toro, he probably would have worked better with him.

I just saw this on Netflix and it was actually a good movie. I thought the actors were very good and played off of each other very well. I wish they would have made a mini series or a series out of it.

I think the reason it ended the way it did was because it was hanging on the viewers want on whether or not to make a sequel or series out of it. I would love it if they made another one to see where it goes. However, it would cost more to get the same actors because a couple were very well known and a few were not as well known and are not. But, I have heard of actors who have been a part of something take a lower salary to continue with it. Sometimes I hate open ended endings, but I think IMO that they do work together with her having access and he knowing things and being able to identify others like him since he has been following him for so long.

Who knows, maybe this will become popular and people will want to see what happens. It happened to First Blood when it came out.
