I'm not exactly sure what I saw when Santiago busted open the door at the end. Was his father having sex his daughter?
shareIt appeared that way to me. The guy was a pig. Just the way he sat in the kitchen, fat and lazy, telling his wife to go check on the children and then clean the rooms. He's "the man" and does anything he pleases. Impassioned response by the mother in this scene, who, obviously was shocked by what she saw.
shareYes, that was Santiago's younger sister and she was being abused/molested by the father. Very disturbing. But it is clear the mother knew, but she was just powerless and ignorant, that is why she begged Santiago not to shoot.
