I Cried Like a Baby

I admit that I cried like a baby throughout most of the movie. I rented it last night and it was great. I love dogs, I have a beautiful white Canaanite dog named Snow and after watching the film I gave her a big hug and kiss. If you are a dog lover like me than "Eight Below" is definitely a must see.

reply

your not alone i did same thing

reply

I'm not even a dog person (I'm a cat person lol) and I literally sobbed throughout the entire movie. Poor Jack didn't even get off the line and have a chance. :-(

reply

He's an ancient mariner and had really hoped his master come back earlier, but unfortunately that didn't happen.

reply

I don't have a dog but I still cried from the time the dogs were left alone to fend for themselves.

Great movie though!!

reply

I'm so glad I rented this DVD and watched it in the privacy of my living room. Had I seen it in a theatre, I would have probably needed to leave because my outbursts would have annoyed everyone.

I am the owner of two chocolate labradors who are the center of my universe. They kept laying their heads on my lap while I sobbed.......which made it even worse.

Great movie, albeit a little predictable.

reply

I don't even own a dog!! I cried A LOT during the film.

reply

I dont own a dog. But i really love them. Man did i cry. Which were the dogs that died. It was Jack and the one with a scar.

reply

Sheesh I was sooooo sad, I still cannot believe this actually happened.

:(

reply

Yea it did actually happen! But in real life all the dogs die and none of them made it back! :(

reply

Hello,

Actually, in real life only 2 out of 15 dogs survived. Still, it's very very sad.

woww, everyone cried :)

I am a dog lover. I haven't seen the movie yet but after these comments, I will see it tomorrow night :)

reply

What a tear jerker, I have cried buckets after just watching it. :(

If that is true then this movie truly was "Disneyfied."

reply

WHAT!!!!
ALL THE DOGS DIE!!!!!!!!!
Now I'm REALLY gonna cry next time I even hear about this movie.
I literally had to hold my dogs during this movie to convince myself that they were safe.
After the movie, I told them that in no circumstance is it okay to EVER leave my side outside of the house. And that order was on top of the commands they'd already been given about not being allowed to get sick, be in pain, or EVER die!! Mommy couldn't handle it!!
Now how am I supposed to handle knowing that they all really died? I guess I should seek some professional help, eh?

The more people I meet, the more I like my dogs.

reply

No. The real life version 15 dogs were abandoed and 2 survived.

reply

I basically blubbered like a 14 year old school girl throughout the whole movie, and i dont mean (my eyes welled up) ,it was more like streams of tears constantly going down my face LOL...I dont have a dog now(i had one growing up though, and i know plenty of dogs lol) and a few of my friends have had huskys aand one once had a malamute....This has to be one of the saddest movies ive ever seen,......
the ppl who wouldnt let them go back to get the dogs should have been lined up and shot....great movie 10/10 easy....

reply

Yeahm I absolutely bawled my eyes out. I've been telling my friends, "If you're a dog lover, don't see it, you will bawl your eyes out, and be in mass amounts of pain from crying so much."

It was a good movie, it was just way way too much for me to handle.

Everything I've done I've done for you. I move the stars for no one.

reply

You don't have to be a dog lover to cry your eyes out. I'm a total cat person and from the time they left the dogs I cried constantly. I was totally exhausted by the time the movie ended. It was spectacular and those dogs were so beautiful I wanted to hug each one. If I had seen this in a theater I would have had to leave because of all the tears. I sat with a box of kleenex on my lap. Awesome movie, gorgeous scenery and phenomenal acting from the dog team. I give this a 5 star rating but don't take the kids!

I'm a dog lover with a 'cold' type dog. The dogs seemed like lives in a videogame, as long as there were some left I didn't care. For me, the film was lacking something that establised the viewer with their personalities. I'm not quite sure what it was.

you can't fight in here, this is the war room!

reply

What's a 'cold' type of dog?

reply

I'll be 28 on Thursday and I wrote that when I was 18. I'm pretty sure I meant dogs that were created in Northern climates and their relatives. I still have that dog by the way, and she an an American Eskimo mix. She is around the age of 15-16, adopted in 2003 at an adult age.

Most cat people I know could care less about dogs o_o I know one of my friends would probably laugh at the fact that all the poor poochies are left alone D:.

It's nice to know that just because you prefer cats, it doesn't mean that you absolutely hate dogs.

It was me! I was the turkey all along!

reply

I prefer cats, but how can someone not be affected by this movie? I completely bawled, those poor dogs. I lost it the most when I thought Maya had died.

reply

I don't know. My friends who are cat lovers just don't like dogs. at all.

It was me! I was the turkey all along!

reply

Yeah, I bought the DVD and just finished watching it, I was glad I didn't see it in the theatres either....the sniffles would have bothered everyone else! I really liked the movie, the dogs are great! Why can't there be more movies like this?

reply

Sorry for replying late. I just now saw this movie on PPV about 4 minutes ago literally. I rarely ever cry, But EVERY SINGLE TIME I see a movie about dogs where they get hurt or left alone like in this movie, I cry. I cryed from the time they were left alone, Until Paul Walker's character found the dogs. This is a beautifully made movie.

reply

I cried too.I was verry upset at the end of the movie and even then I couldn't stop crying.I was feeling very bad.

reply

oh my god...i must admitt that i cried through almost all of the movie...it's absolutely fantastic! i loved it...and i felt so sad that 2 dogs had 2 die...but it made the movie more realistic...i loved every part of it...and paul walker does an amazing job with his role...and u can really see that he loves dogs very much...i bet he's a huge animal lover...i will add this movie on my favourite all time movies! it was so moving...i've just seen it...and i must say that i am sort of speechless...i don't know if i will be able to see it again...i'm afraid i will cry 2 much...:( this is an excellent movie...and the dogs did a great job! this is the only movie that made me cry like a baby more than one hour...just...perfect :)

reply

me too, i recently lost my beautiful german shepard/husky "stormy" and this movie came in the mail. I didnt know what to expect, but lots of tears with my family.

reply

I just recently watched this movie and there were so many times where I cried! I thought this movie was so sad! It was still awesome and it had it's happy times, especially when he gets back to the dogs and finds out most of them are still alive. There were so many sad moments, but I still loved the movie a lot!

reply

I couldn't help it. I lost my dog on my sister's birthday. That was about 6 months ago, When I saw Jack didn't get off the chain, I cried for a long time. My dog was 13 years old. It was born 2 months before I was. I couldn't help but cry forever. I rented the movie, and I am watching it now! I am crying while I type.

reply

I had a beautiful german shepard cross labrador from when I was born till I was almost 15, I am now 27 and still get teary when I talk about her, I've had lots of other dogs since but because I grew up with her she was the best.

reply

i dont quite remember but...ws it 6 dogs or 5 dogs that survived. im sure 3 died..old jack cuz he was old anyway & then that one under teh northern lights that fell down the cliff. but wasnt there another dog that died to?

Two died, Jack and the one that fell. At the end it looks like Maya might be dead but then Max makes sure she gets rescued and she's ok. Thankfully!

Like everyone else I cried and cried and cried, but I did really enjoy it.

reply

i no jack died but who was the other one you said they fell down, but where i cant remember where that one dies in the movie

reply

I saw this on a bus. I wasn't planning on seeing this in public because I cried at the previews and I cried throughout the entire second 1/2. Still found it really great and touching. LOVED the dogs and they way they cared for one another. But now I'm even more upset to read in this thread that none of the dogs really survived.... :(

reply

Two dogs died....Old Jack and one of the twins that fall down. Maya was seriously injured but survived.

In the real story, only 2 out of 15 dogs survived and a Japanese movie came out in 1983 about their survival. Plus, the people that went back for the dogs were Japanese.
