LOL!

I noticed they stole the "evolved dinosaur" plot from the Super Mario Bro's movie!

Nah this movie is much more than that. This movie is one of the great sci-fi pictures originals hit. This film trully belongs in the collection of sci-fi picture original fans.

There`s original good and then there`s this...c`mon you can`t just like something because you haven`t seen it before and hate something because it`s been done.

When did the Super Mario movie come out? The book that this movie is based on came out in 1999. Science Fiction as a genre only has so many "original" plot ideas; it is what you do with them that counts. How many vampire movies, werewolf movies, mummy movies, etc etc ad nauseum have there been? Do you stop watching them just because they all rip-off Bram Stoker or Mary Shelley or HG Wells or whoever? No! You watch to see if they have something original to say using that idea. Same with books -- the most profitable and buzzing area in SF right now is paranormal romance, all of which reuses the idea of seductive vampires (Stoker) or werewolves or whatnot. It is how you use the idea that counts.

If your only criticism is that the plot seems unoriginal, say so -- but don't blast the plot for having been "stolen" from another movie when that movie did not originate the idea.

It might as well be "lifted" from Robert J. Sawyer's Quintaglio Ascension (yes, horrible title) trilogy. The idea of civilized dinosaurs is not that hard to cme up with, but different authors have evolved the idea in different ways...
