He wasn't credited as co-producer [that I can find anyway]. He was always co-executive or simply executive producer & co-creator or creator for his entire run of the show.
It's not that he 'stuck around' after it was announced he was leaving in November '13.
Terry's last speaking part was A Boy Named Michael & was still production season eight. TBS started production season nine in or a short time prior to November '13 I'm sure, enough time for a disagreement to boil over with TBS & Mike.
Naturally it was recorded prior to the announcement he was leaving. He was long gone from the show by the time his last Terry voiced episode aired in September '14.
It's easy to get mixed up on what happened when. Nobody is even 100% sure what season we're on. 😂
shareTwo seasons into his departure, I think most fans would agree that Mike Barker's decision to leave American Dad was a huge turning point. The way its creative direction changed was noticeable even to casual fans. I personally feel it changed the entire identity of the show, even more so than the move to TBS did. More "edgy" and shock-value-derived humor, less emphasis on character development and absurdist humor. Mr. Barker is sorely missed.

sharedanielledip10, you're right about it. This show used to be REALLY funny! To me season 9 was the turning point. Bring back the Roger who was hip, cool, racist and did coke always. Now he just makes dumb comments occasionally.
shareAs much as I hate to admit it, you're right, but I really don't want the show to end on this sort of downturn. I really want this show to continue with the hopes that the humor will return to its former glory but since it's move to TBS, it's added an excessive (and unnecessary) amount of swearing, cringe humor, (too much) pop culture, loss of characters, nonsensical and irrelevant plots that lack substance, and just an all around downgrade (let's not forget American Fung). Barely anything happened in this finale and there was nothing more than a few chuckles which seems to be a consistent feeling for me with these TBS episodes. Jeff's subplot could have been removed completely and I felt like it didn't even need to be introduced. Roger felt very one dimensional and was rarely used, and Stan becoming a DJ to overthrow his boss sounds like a lazy story I would have written about my teacher in middle school. All around it just didn't flow naturally to me. I miss moments like Roger's dog the bounty hunter character, Tender Vigilante, Stan's Spring Break, and basically everything the old episodes used to be. I've watched this show non stop since it's original run and it's return after the gaps of airing. Like many others, I'm pretty sure the departure of Mike was also the moment where the show declined. Outside of a few episodes, the past couple seasons there haven't really had any memorable episodes for me. It's sad to see something I love so much turn into a shell of what it used to be. I probably wouldn't even watch the show anymore if I hadn't ran through the old ones on Netflix 500x but I stick around with the hopes it'll go back to its old style and refrain from rubbernecking, texting while driving, DJing, selling out, and everything else it's been doing since the move.

TBS wanted the show to be a less funny, intelligent version. Mike Barker wanted to retain that humor and intelligence. TBS didn't like that, so Barker left. It's sad really.
