Is this thing ever getting a region 1 release? C'mon! I want to own and watch it!

Just buy a multi-region DVD player. Then you can buy DVDs from anywhere in the world. YR

I agree. I don't buy Region 2 dvds because I don't want to buy a region-locked dvd player or a "WorldWide" Region 0 player in order to play dvds that have been locked to Region 2 PAL format.

These kinds of DVD players usually end up costing more and are in my opinion more trouble then they are worth.

I too wish they would release this as a Region 1 release so that I can watch it on DVD without having to buy another dvd player.

Take a chance on it, nyles and s_c47: I bought one about a year and a half ago for about $28 American specifically because I wanted to get three movies (Heartless, which wasn't available in my country at the time, Arrow Films's definitive release of Battle Royale, and Y Tu Mama Tambien, which has been out of print here). I knew it was a crapshoot and the possibility that the thing would break within a few months (or even out of the box) was possible. However, I've had good luck switching between region 1 and 2 DVDs, and it has a PAL/NTSC (and vice versa) on it, so it's basically all you need.

Plus, the US market gouges the crap out of the consumer: for instance, I remember looking at the Skins boxed set of series 1-4, and that set cost less then one series released from BBC America for all four series. That's bullsh*te. Same with the Jekyll DVD... it's about three times the price on BBC America label (this I don't get; since Skins is an E4 production, I figure the money involved getting rights to the shows, but Jekyll is a BBC production).

I'm rambling. The point is, you could pay about $28 for a crapshoot like mine (which is still working fine for me), or you could find something a bit more expensive, but more reliable, just by shopping around. It's not too difficult.
