Huge goof
They say it is the Conny (too bad she got decommissioned), but when they show the ship, you can see her hull # is 68. USS NIMITZ is CVN-68. The Conny is CV-64.
shareI noticed that. I was on both of them at one time or another. I was on WestPac 88/89 on the Connie. My dad actually came out from Illinois (actually flew in from St Louis) for the Tiger Cruise, but we went from Seattle to San Diego, instead of Hawaii. Coincidentally, VFA-113 (the Stingers, the same squadron as Lt. Torres) were part of CVW-14 at that time.
I've actually been on the Connie (CV-64)(WestPac 88/89), the Indy (CV-62)(work-ups for WestPac 89/90), the Ranger (CV-60)(more work-ups for a future cruise), and the Nimitz (CV-68)(work-ups prior to the Desert Storm deployment), in that order.
