Not so much a documentary as it is a promo for a crappy band

If this movie took itself seriously it would have been a good documentary but instead of doing that the film maker sticks performances by a lame band doing stupid, immature songs about Robert Berdella all through out the movie. Also the reenactments were unnecessary and used for shock value, for instance did we really need to see a carrot and then a cucumber being shoved into a man's ass? If this had been a serious documentary the film would have gotten a "7" but because of the stupid and distracting material it is lucky to have a "3". The biggest promo of everything wrong with this film can be seen in the last five minutes. Stupid ass filmmakers took a sure thing and ruined it.

You forgot about the completely biased, non accurate views of James Ellroy as well. I thought he was a quite intelligent guy, I changed my mind after this documentary, he has utterly no idea about anything yet he announces his word as verbatim. Very embarrassing.
