so i read the book in the past two days

and then watched the movie today....WOW
i absolutely despised this movie.
the book was so much better.
better story
better action
better characters
more depth
just everything was better.
they change waaaaaay too much.
i think the only thing that was consistent was the title, a couple names, and the fact that they're werewolves.
this movie completely pissed me off....just saying lol

Hi,

The movie producer made the deliberate decision to NOT try to mirror the book. I guess there needs to be an industry convention to identify this. Perhaps append the movie title with "-Book Alternative". This would protect the book vigilantes from wasting their time. If you notice, all of the low scores are from the book conservatives, where all the high scores are from movie liberals:)

Also, a movie can Never provide the plot development or meticulous detail (in 2-hours), that a book can provide (in hundreds of pages).

If a film is only 'based' on something, I think they should change the title, like 'Blade Runner' is Based on 'Do Android Dream of Electronic Sheep.' but 'Sin City' Is an Adaption.

I p's me off too when they change so much that it makes no sense to even call it the same thing as the book, like "I Am Legend." OMG that really sucked.

I agree with a novel a film can't capture everything, can't take long flowery sentences of characters background and translate it to film but if a story is good enough to make some one want to turn it into a film then why change it?

Short stories generally are easier to adapt.

I Saw The Movie First & Fell In Love With It.
Then Eventually i Finally Got To Read The Book And Loved It Even more.
The Only Connections WERE The Title,Names & Werewolves.(technicly they are
shape-shifters in the movie, not werewolves like in the book)

Anyways,I Also Think The Book Was SOOOOOO Much Better. And They Really Shouldnt have Changed THAT Much About It.

I Mean, Look At Twilight For Example, No, It Wasnt EXACTLY Like The Book, But It Was ALOT Like It. But With Blood & Chocolate It Was NOTHING Like The Book.

I Know You Cant make A 2 Hour Movie JUST Like The Book, But Really, Blood & Chocolate Could Have Been Closer.

But Still I LOVE The Movie, Its One Of My Faves.

When I started watching the movie I was pissed also, I had high hopes because the book was one of my favourites for a long time. So many things were changed and I wanted to stop watching but then I decided to just watch the movie and not connect it with the book. In the end, I liked the movie. Yes the book is more powerful and more deep but the movie was more mature and in a way a what if story. Like, what if Aiden faught for Vivian instead of fearing her. I liked that.

seems like Aiden in the book was a total fool but he was a child anyway so he is forgiven lol The movie is great. I would hate the book now that I know what was the story in it.

While I can totally understand die hard fans of the book being upset at the changes that were made to a movie...this is also not something new to this particular movie. If anyone has ever read Dean Koontz's book Watchers, there's a book that had several movies made from it none of which even really came close to the book.

Whenever I see a movie and then discover it is based on a book, if I liked the movie, then I'll look into getting the book as in almost everycase I can say I like the book better, though I can usually still enjoy both as separate works. (face it, what works in a book does not always work on film and vice versa as they are two different mediums) However, with the Blood and Chocolate movie I have to say this is one time where I totally and completely loved/enjoyed the movie, more so than the book. In fact, I almost didn't finish the book as it and the characters rather annoyed me in a way that the movie itself didn't.
Granted I saw the movie first but as said above there has been many other cases (Watchers being one) where I've tracked down the books after viewing the movie and while still liking both readily admit the book is better) I'd pass it off as saying I'm older than the target age of the book (meant for teenagers) but then again I enjoy the Harry Potter books and movies and have viewed and read them many times over. *shrugs*

This is the one exception for me...I've seen the movie many times over and as stated already I barely made it through one reading of the book with no intentions of ever rereading it.
