British whodunit mystery shows? There are so many good ones!
Check out Midsomer Murders -- it's a lot like Murder in Suburbia, a light-hearted show about murder, but it's set in a rural village area.
You might also like Foyle's War and Poirot. But there are a zillion others.
The British series Mayo (retitled The Gil Mayo Mysteries in America) was very similar. The characters even recreated murder scenes with action figures, the same way that Scribbs did in Murder in Suburbia.

If you like offbeat characters (a la Monk and Psych), you should check out Jonathan Creek. The protagonist devises illusions for magicians (his "day job"), resides in a windmill, and armed with the skills of his profession, solves baffling mysteries.
Like Murder in Suburbia, JC features sharp-witted (and sharp-tongued) observations.
