Evangeline wanted what?
I saw this movie once and I always wondered...
I know she loved the children's father but...what was it that she wanted? to become an educated woman or something?
can someone help me out here...

She was a scullery maid, the lowest of the low as servants go. She wanted to better herself so she could raise herself up enough to be worthy. A persons station in life was once what defined you. She wanted to change her station in life, in order to get the family she loved.
