Is Nanny McPhee the 'real' Mary Poppins?

I have heard from various sources (including the new upcoming film 'Saving Mr. Banks') that the original Mary Poppins from the books was quite cold and stern, unlike the friendly, song-singing one from Walt Disney's version, which original author P.L. Travers despised.

Since Nanny McPhee in this film is indeed stern but with magic, this has made me wonder if this Nanny McPhee is the one that Travers expected to appear on him.

What do you think?

Two different sources. P. L. Travers wrote the Mary Poppins books. This story is based on Nurse Matilda books.

I never knew that about the original Mary popins. Interesting.
