I have been looking around everywhere to see if this documentary can be purchased on DVD, but without success!
Can anyone help me out? I own a region-free DVD player so I can buy DVDs from any region.

In the meanwhile, I managed to find out that pbs.org sells this documentary, but for a whopping $30!! Isn't there any cheaper place to purchase this documentary?

I'm sorry that you cannot find a cheaper DVD. Try looking on amazon. Neway, I'm proud of you for having interest in Islam.
shareThanks for the compliment, mastasedaf. I am not muslim myself(in fact, I am atheist), but I am interested in all religions. Lately, I have been quite interested in Islam and I am almost finished reading the Holy Qur'an.
My interest also has to do with the role Islam plays in the new world politics. I find that much Christians and other Westerners are quite uninformed about the religion. Probably, the same applies vice versa. Surely, this must be related to the increase in inter-religious hostility we have all experienced in the last few years.
By the way, I would recommend you to watch "Islam: Empire of Faith", a very nice documentary which I am proud to own on DVD.
