I wasn't sure what to expect from this movie. As always, I came to IMDb to read reviews and check the forums to see what the general consensus was.. and it was mixed. On the forums, everyone seemed to hate it. In the reviews, everyone seemed to like it.

I broke down and watched it and I thought it was great. Maybe a little weak in the story department, but it definitely kept my attention. Awesome visuals, great acting, and just an all-around pleasing fantasy movie. It reminded a toned down version of Golden Compass (which I also liked).

I thought it was great as well. I loved the visuals, the classic good v evil story arc, and dakota blue and ioan in particular were brilliant.

Me too!
I geuss I kind of have been an dakota blue richards fan ever since the golden compass, and heard of this movie 10-7 months ago and have been looking forword to seeing it since.
I was a littel bit bored to day and decided to see if anybody had posted it on youtube, ( thats usally where I go to see movies, etc etc) someone had and Isaw it. I could never consentrate fully on it, but it`s defently a movie I want to see again and recomend.

I actually think I`m going to look up the book. I hear its great.
But I`m 17 will I like the book or am I too old?

I'm 17 and I really liked this movie too. Not as good as the amazing book, but it looks exquisite, those dresses of Marias's are to die for and the music is gorgeous. And I thought the acting was not that bad, Dakota Blue Richards especially gives a great performance. It is true that some of the story is a little on the weak side, but I like this movie all the same. And it is true that a lot is changed from the book, which is my all time favourite, but I am not the sort of person who compares films to their book, or at least I don't try to. It is well worth watching for the costumes and sets alone.

I love it. The scenery is simply stunning and the music is beautiful, especially at the end during the scene with the horses.

good movie... not great. The costumes were outstanding.
