What a great movie

So, i'm a big fan of Inuyasha. Today I got the box set of the four Inuyasha movies. I watched the first two and, while I liked them, I wasn't especially thrilled with them in comparison to the TV series. I felt that they were kind of rushed, not especially well-written compared to the series, and that some of the characters' personalities were exaggerated a bit. I attribute these issues to the fact that the movies, unlike the TV series, aren't based on Rumiko Takahashi's manga and therefore they lack a bit of its charm, as well as trying to cram too much into the small space of time a movie allows in comparison to a manga/TV series. So I had relatively low expectations for the third one (low expectations only by Inuyasha standards, mind you; I still expected it to be quite good).

I ended up being blown away by it. To me, this movie felt much more in the spirit of the anime series than the first two were. It was much more well-written and the characters felt more like themselves. It was really great to get a look into the back story of Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru and above all their father, the Inu no Taisho. This movie is the same length as the first two, but it had more depth so it was a more fulfilling experience. I felt that the Sou'unga sword was a much better developed and more interesting antagonist than the ones in the first two movies. And having a large role for Sesshoumaru is always a plus. All in all the movie was interesting and thrilling, well-written and well-paced. I rated it 9/10.
