'I have no one to protect'

'I have no one to protect'

Apparently this phrase had everything to do with the movie, giving Seshomaru the answer to defeating Sounga and all, but how exactly did it do that? What did it "tell" him? How did he know to strike Inuyasha's backlash wave with Tensdaiga? Anyone?

This has been making me scratch my head for a long time now.

He meant that he wont admit to protecting anyone even though he is always protecting Ren and Jaken and some times Inuyasha. Look at the Tensaga its shaking and wants to strike. Hes trying to show that he is not like his father or brother even though he can feel himself become like the father.
