Tina "Accidentally" rammed into another skater while warming up at a competition in Sarajevo. It broke her (other skater's) leg and she was forced out of the competition, and Tina, as punishment, was suspended from skating, and by the time they even though about letting her back, she was too old, and it was too late.
Well, Tonya wasn't the one who attacked Nancy. And in the movie, it was never REALLY said whether the collision in Sarajevo (probably at the 1984 Olympics there) was an accident or not. Accidents do happen all the time.

Well, it could have been worse (wasn't it a pipe, not a bat?); at least it only kept her out of Nationals. She went to the Olympics and had a resounding success. After that, she turned professional and I think the last time I saw her skate was 07. She's more devoted to being a mom now though.

You're right -- it could definitely have been worse; but it could've been better, too. Nancy won the silver medal at the Olympics. Who's to say she couldn't have finished first and gotten the gold for the U.S. -- if only she hadn't been set back like that both physically and emotionally so close to the Games. Does anyone really believe that Harding played no part in the attack?
