just barely passed for network tv animation. This was the period when most tv studios started sending storyboards overseas to save money on animation. TV animation budgets got to the point where you had to choose between having American animators stretching limited animation to the breaking point or sending it overseas where the salaries are lower and you could get more for your money. Supposedly, Filmation's He-Man was one of the more expensive shows at the time but it never looked it. It's the sort of show my parents can tell is badly animated- and they didn't study it in school.
I think there was a definite choice not to go with the Filmation style of animation because this was a feature. I think there's an eerie charm in reusing footage but to most people it reads as cheap. I find it kind of neat seeing the Gang in fuller animation for once.
