What a Lame Ending (Spoiler)

Come on, he fell in love with her and was all hot about her. Then he saves her life. You'd think he would have been there to pick her up and take her somewhere for some close encounters. Yet no one, not even the press, was around when they cut her lose from prison. That made no sense since his obsession for her was supposed to be central to the plot.

What are they doing? Why do they come here?
